Conference Code of Conduct

ILAS Statement of Welcoming and Inclusiveness

The International Linear Algebra Society (ILAS) is comprised of a diverse global membership.

It is the policy of ILAS to offer a welcoming and inclusive environment to all participants in its activities, including all its meetings and conferences, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion or religious belief, age, marital status, disabilities, and field of expertise.

ILAS strives to foster an atmosphere that encourages the free expression and exchange of ideas, free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and that is welcoming and safe to all members and to those who participate in its activities.

If you feel harassed or unsafe in any way because of the actions, words, pictures, or expression of any other member or participant, we encourage you to bring this to the attention of the organizers, and/or ILAS executive officers.

Alternatively, ILAS has designated three respected former officers, whom you may contact. See https://ilasic.org/inclusiveness-statement/ for the contact information.

Virginia Tech Code of Conduct

The Commonwealth of Virginia and Virginia Tech are committed to creating and maintaining a community dedicated to the advancement, sharing, and preservation of knowledge and creative endeavors through academic excellence, where all individuals who participate in University programs and activities can work and learn together in an environment free from harassment, exploitation, or intimidation.

Virginia Tech has policies that prohibit discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence, and there are established procedures for reporting such violations. These include Policy 1025: Harassment, Discrimination, and Sexual Assault and Policy 1026: Title IX Sexual Harassment and Responsible Employee Reporting. These policies apply to admission, employment, access, and treatment in all University programs and activities. See https://policies.vt.edu/assets/1026.pdf for details on those policies.

The University's Title IX policy (Policy 1026) addresses sexual violence, sexual harassment, and retaliation—collectively "Prohibited Conduct"—and outlines Virginia Tech's responsibilities and procedures related to such conduct to ensure an equitable and inclusive educational and working environment.

The non-discrimination policy (Policy 1025) covers harassment and discrimination on the basis of age, color, disability, sex (including pregnancy), gender, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, ethnic or national origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, or military status, among other protected categories. These policies apply to all students (undergraduate, graduate, professional), faculty, staff, and third parties.

By participating in this conference, all attendees agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Failure to do so may result in loss of privileges or removal from the conference without refund.
